The planning phase of the University of Arizona's new incentive-based, transparent budget model, Responsibility Centered Management, is moving ahead as expected.
The planning phase entails the nine subcommittees conducting research while carefully considering their charges and providing recommendations to the RCM Steering Committee. The RCM Steering Committee, encompassing a wide representation of campus stakeholders and the chairs of the nine subcommittees, will then review the recommendations and create a status report for President Ann Weaver Hart's review.

Planning is underway for the University of Arizona's transition to a new incentive-based, transparent budget model called Responsibility Centered Management.
This spring, nine subcommittees encompassing a broad representation of campus were established to focus on key subject areas. Committee members are convening regularly and have established guiding principles for their work.

The University of Arizona is moving to a new budgeting model that increases budgets for colleges that teach more and decreases budgets to those that teach less.
Called responsibility-centered management, the model "includes the notion that there are units on campus where the dollars are generated, and some incentive should flow back so if colleges teach more, they should see more in return," Senior Vice President and Provost Andrew Comrie said in an interview.
